The Greenleaf Project has been established to investigate the agricultural use of compost and the development of on-farm composting techniques

The Project's objective is...

To divert biodegradable green waste away from landfill within Norfolk to comply with the requirements of the UK waste strategy and the EU Landfill Directive

And this will be achieved by...

Identifying large-volume users for annual supply of compost in excess of 40,000 tonnes – agriculture is the obvious first choice.

Carrying out field trials to assess the benefits.

Developing commercially viable and environmentally sound systems for the production, distribution and application of compost on agricultural land.

Identifying farms with the potential to establish a composting facility and provide a comprehensive management facility.

The Project has the potential to recycle all of Norfolk’s green waste.
